Does WordShield upload my prompts to a server?

No. The desktop app stores every captured prompt in a local SQLite database at %APPDATA%/WordShield/data/prompts.db on your own PC. It makes zero network requests. There is no server to talk to: block the executable in your firewall and every feature keeps working.

Does WordShield capture my passwords?

No. Password fields are excluded using the Windows UI Automation IsPassword property, backed by a content-level filter. Password text never reaches the local database.

Does WordShield show ads or run analytics?

No. There are no third-party ads, no analytics scripts, and no tracking cookies anywhere in the app or on this website. The free tier is limited by how many prompts are visible, not by advertising.

Do I need an account to use WordShield?

No. There is no signup, no login and no cloud account. The app runs entirely offline.

Privacy Policy - WordShield

The short version

WordShield is a Windows desktop app that saves the prompts you type into AI tools. Everything stays on your own PC. The app makes zero network requests, has no account system, runs no telemetry, shows no ads and sets no tracking cookies. You can block the executable in your firewall and every feature keeps working.

1. What the desktop app stores

Captured prompts are written to a local SQLite database on your own computer:

Location: %APPDATA%\WordShield\data\prompts.db (you can move this folder from Settings → Storage)
Contents: the prompt text, the source application, and a timestamp
Where it goes: nowhere. It never leaves your machine.

2. What the desktop app never collects

Passwords: password fields are excluded via the Windows UI Automation IsPassword property, plus a content-level filter
Clipboard: WordShield never reads or writes the system clipboard, so your normal copy and paste is untouched
Telemetry: no analytics, no crash reporting, no usage stats
Keystrokes outside AI inputs: text is read from the focused input control, not recorded as a raw global key log

Network access is only used by the optional AI analysis feature, which calls an OpenAI-compatible endpoint you configure yourself. Turn it off and the app is fully offline.

3. What this website collects

This website runs no analytics scripts, no advertising scripts and no tracking cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no AdSense, and no third-party ad network. Our hosting provider may keep standard web-server access logs (IP address, user agent, time) for operational reasons; we do not use them to build profiles.

4. If you buy a license

Payment: handled by PayPal (international) or WeChat Pay (China). We never receive or store your card or bank details.
What we receive: the email address attached to your payment, so we can send your license key.
License keys: signed offline with RSA-2048 and validated locally. Activation does not phone home.

5. Cookies

This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The only value stored in your browser is your interface language preference, kept locally so the app and site do not have to guess.

6. Your rights

See everything stored about you: it is one SQLite file on your own disk
Delete it: clear the database from Settings, or delete the file
Ask us to delete any order record: email us and it is removed
Request a copy of anything we hold about your purchase
